Also called KDS, Kitchen screen
A kitchen display system replaces printed dockets with a screen showing live orders. Items move through states — new, preparing, complete — so the kitchen and the counter share one view of what is ready.
A KDS removes the failure modes of paper: lost tickets, unreadable printing, and no way to tell whether an item has been started. It also timestamps each state change, which is where kitchen timing data comes from.
Most systems charge per screen per month for this. It is worth checking whether a quoted POS price includes the kitchen display or meters it separately.
MinimalPOS handles orders, kitchen, billing and reporting in one flow.
